A showcase of versatility and an aesthetic delight!

By Joachim Lange, Mitteldeutschen Zeitung

FLAM.ME.UM was originally the veil that covered the bride at a Roman wedding. Here the word is fragmented - as are the seven musical pieces chosen by Impellizzeri, ranging from a composition by violinist Alicia Enstrom to tracks by Italian DJ Marco Shuttle.

Bright colours and close-fitting costumes merge into a harmonious undulation of bodies, where moments of movement symmetry reveal an inner structure and allow the poetry of movement to emerge.

There are five pairs of dancers - each retaining their individuality even as they form intricate dance patterns in an apparent chaos. One senses the loss of the individual in new contexts of reality, especially when bodies are drawn together only to be torn apart.

Against a shifting horizon of neon tubes that change shape and colour, the dancers fall into the music again and again, carried by it or swaying in the current like underwater plants. At the end, they all blow a kiss to the audience from the ramp.

This new dance evening in Dessau is a showcase of versatility and an aesthetic delight!
